Dylan’s dance journey began one Saturday when she was 3 years old. Once she took her first dancing step, she never really stopped; you would find her tapping and twirling wherever she went, including the supermarket much to her mum’s dismay. Interested in anything creative, she developed a love for music and art as well, and pursued them throughout her time at school, but when it was time to go to university she auditioned for the Scottish School of Contemporary dance and never looked back.
After completing her dance training, Dylan received her BA(Hons) in Contemporary Dance in 2017. Keen to pursue her interest in creating dance further, she moved down to Leeds to study for a Master’s degree in Choreography where she was mentored by choreographers such as Beth Cassani, Emilyn Claid, and Matthias Sperling. Through her studies, she’s been fortunate enough to try her hand in other aspects of the dance industry. She has written posts for ABCDance blog covering B-motion festival in Bassano Del Grappa, performed at Latitude festival with SBC theatre, and helped to facilitate a variety of community projects with people of all ages and abilities.
On achieving her MA, Dylan moved back home to Dundee where she has been working as a freelance dance artist. As well as making her own choreography, she is eager to use her knowledge and passion to inspire and facilitate other people in their own dance journey.
Dylan joined Shaper/Caper’s Youth Advisory Council, The Body, during her training and worked with Shaper/Caper on various projects during this time. In 2019, she joined Shaper/Caper as a Trainee Producer and is dead excited to learn all things producing!
