Dance Apprentice Audition
Shaper/Caper are recruiting for an apprentice dancer. We know it can be difficult to build performance experience for new graduates so have designed an opportunity to expand your CV and experience. We are touring our acclaimed children’s production, The Adventures of Isabel, by multi award winning choreographer Thomas Small, across Scotland and can offer a unique opportunity to learn about touring alongside our professional dancers. This opportunity is open to final year full-time dance students or recent graduates. The successful candidate will be mentored throughout the apprenticeship and receive guidance around CV’s, showreels, etc. They will also be given three additional mentoring meetings with Thomas Small in the year ahead to discuss their career, assistance with job applications etc. This opportunity is designed to be a bridge between training and the profession.
The audition will take place in Dundee on 27th March from 11am to 3pm and the apprenticeship will start on 9th April until 28th April.
This apprenticeship is free of charge and Shaper/Caper will cover all your expenses on tour.

Apprenticeship period: 9th to 28th April with an additional 3 mentoring meetings between May 2019 and May 2020 dates to be agreed with candidate.

Board of Trustees recruitment!
We are looking for dynamic people to join our Board of Trustees, with an interest in the arts and the skills required to help us achieve our future ambitions to diversify and broaden our activity.
Shaper/Caper is a charity based in Dundee presenting the work of multi award winning choreographer, Thomas Small. Thomas is a Clore fellow and the first ever BBC Radio 2 Artist in Residence. Shaper/Caper presents critically acclaimed performance work around the world and is complemented by a diverse Creative Learning programme for people of all ages. We run two major creative learning programmes – Well Good, a partnership with NHS Tayside, which visits 116 primary schools each year, and Cmd-Shift, a year long digital arts project for young people aged 10 to 25 taking place in Dundee, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. With Well Good alone, we will work with 7000 children this year. Thomas’ work includes Within This Dust, an acclaimed piece of work exploring the events of 9/11 and interactive children’s show The Adventures of Isabel. Both works have received 4 star reviews. We became a charity in November 2016.
We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who have knowledge or skills in these areas: Marketing, Fundraising, Health & Safety, Digital and Environment. We hold quarterly board meetings, which take place in Dundee and one Board Development Day. Whilst this is a voluntary role, expenses will be paid to cover Directors’ travel costs to attend meetings.
