Lost But Found

Lost But Found was created as part of Thomas' role as Artist in Residence at BBC Radio 2 exploring stories heard on Radio 2 around Children in Need.

We were delighted to have created a a dance film inspired and performed by the amazing people of Dundee to show our support for the Dundee 2023 bid to become European Capital of Culture.

Filmed at iconic city landmarks such as Slessor Gardens, The McManus and the stunning V&A Dundee building, award winning choreographer, Thomas Small, worked with Scottish School of Contemporary Dance at D&A College, Scottish Dance Theatre, Dundee Dance Partnership, schools and even Dundee United Football Club who swapped their football boots for dancing shoes to get involved! Participants learned a dance routine inspired by the Law Hill, RRS Discovery and comic characters such as Oor Wullie, Dennis the Menace and Desperate Dan.

Thomas said ‘It’s our little love letter to the city and people of Dundee. We make our performance work here in Dundee and tour it all over the world. We never forget our roots and love to tell people all about our incredible home city. It was fantastic to work with the footballers at Dundee United Football Club and we hope that seeing the footballers dancing will inspire lots of young boys and men to get dancing. When we heard about the Dundee 2023 bid, we wanted to bring people together to celebrate the long history of Dundonian’s love for dance. From the dance halls of the 50’s and 60’s to the current thriving dance community, Dundee has always been a city that dances!’
