Laura Mackie

Laura Mackie, born in Livingston, Scotland, began her journey as a dancer at a young age. At 14 Laura began competitive figure skating in-which she accustomed a talent for artistry and rhythm, leading her to begin her journey as a dancer. In 2017 Laura joined Lothian Youth Dance Company based at Dance Base, Edinburgh. During her time in the youth company she worked with various different choreographers, devising work and performing the work throughout Scotland. From this experience Laura developed a keen interest in performing and decided to pursue professional training as a dancer after finishing high school.

In 2017 Laura went onto training at Dance Studio Scotland, for four years, where she was trained in a variety of styles from hip-hop to contemporary. Laura gained her HND at Dance Studio Scotland, and went onto train at Scottish School of Contemporary Dance, Dundee, where she gained a First Class Honours degree in Professional Dance Practise.

Since graduating, Laura joined Shaper/Caper in 2022, as a Dance Artist Intern via an internship scheme thanks to GCAS, before joining the team as a Dance Artist in 2023.
