Lisa Bibby joined Shaper/Caper as Engagement Manager in July 2026, bringing nearly three decades of experience as a dance artist, educator, choreographer and community practitioner.

A graduate of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) in Leeds in 1997, Lisa performed works by renowned choreographers including Alan Greig (Alan Greig Dance Theatre) and Henry Daniel (Trinity Laban). During her graduating year, she was a member of Verve Dance Company, where her own choreographic work, Itchy Feet, was selected to tour with the company,

Following graduation, Lisa performed with Sidewinder Dance Company in Newcastle, where she discovered her passion for teaching and community engagement. Alongside her performance career, she worked as a choreographer, becoming Assistant Entertainments Manager with Butlins Holidays, developing valuable experience in leadership, programming, and audience engagement.

Following her performance career, Lisa undertook a maternity cover position as Dance Development Officer for the Space, where she gained valuable experience in developing community dance opportunities and widening participation. She then joined the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance at Dundee and Angus College, where she spent the next 26 years as a lecturer, inspiring and mentoring generations of emerging dance artists. Alongside her teaching in higher education, Lisa worked extensively in schools and communities, delivering creative dance projects, choreographing musical theatre productions, and leading workshops for participants of all ages, from early years through to adults.

In her new role as Engagement Manager at Shaper/Caper, Lisa is excited to build meaningful relationships with communities and partners, creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the transformative power of dance. Her passion for inclusion, participation, and creativity continues to shape her work, with the belief that dance has the ability to connect people, build confidence, and enrich lives.

Who would Lisa like to dance with?

‘Any of the professional dancers on Strictly Come Dancing. Strictly is my dream and gets me through the cold winters, and then I happily Quickstep or Tango in the new year. Keep Dancing!’
