Small Town Boys at Edinburgh Festival Fringe
Aug

Small Town Boys at Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Shaper/Caper presents Small Town Boys - an award winning show exploring the escapism of queer nightlife during the 80’s & 90’s AIDS crisis through dance and spoken word.

A young man embarks on a thrilling journey from his small hometown to the big city, where he finds solace and joy in the vibrant LGBTQ+ scene. However, his adventure takes a dramatic turn as he confronts a terrifying health crisis, largely ignored by the government.

Following sold-out performances across Scotland in 2024, eight electrifying dancers accompanied by a community cast, bring the legendary Paradise Nightclub to life in this award-winning production with a soundtrack of 80s & early 90s anthems. bringing the joy and chaos of the club scene to life.

Choreographed by award-winning Choreographer Thomas Small, designed by Becky Minto, Small Town Boys will have audiences laughing, crying and dancing the night away.

Audience members will be invited to relive their own memories of the dance floor as the boundaries between stage and club are blurred, giving them a chance to boogie alongside our cast (or just take a backseat and watch, if they’d prefer!).

Small Town Boys is produced in partnership with Terrence Higgins Trust, Waverley Care and PASS at Edinburgh College, and is part of the Made in Scotland 2025 showcase.
