Shaper/Caper is delighted to host a free weekly class designed especially for those living with Parkinson’s disease and their families and carers. These classes are suitable for those people with no dance experience and will develop participants’ confidence and creativity, whilst addressing Parkinson’s specific concerns such as; balance, flexibility, coordination, gait, and social isolation.
People living with Parkinson's in Dundee and Angus are invited to attend our in-person class, which takes place every Tuesday from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm at Showcase the Street, Manhattan Works, Dundonald Street, Dundee DD3 7PY. The class is free to attend thanks to generous funding from The RS Macdonald Charitable Trust.

Fancy joining our Community Company fresh off the stage from their performances of Small Town Boys at the Fringe? Well, you’re in luck! This is your opportunity to join us! We meet fortnightly to work on material for performances in and around Dundee!
No experience is needed and it’s a great opportunity to make some new pals and enjoy a blether and a boogie together! This group is for LGBTQ+ people and allies for those aged 18 and over.
And the best bit….it’s FREE!

FAQ’s
Q: What shall i be doing?
A: You will take part in a fun warm up to get the blood pumping before learning choreographic material and learning tools to make your own dances too. You will be guided through all this with our fab professional dancers. The sessions will be fun, friendly and a chance to make new pals!
Q: What should I wear?
A: Best to wear comfy clothes that you can exercise in. We usually dance barefoot or in a socks that have sock grip to them. Dresses and skirts are not appropriate for this class. There are no changing rooms on site so best to arrive in your exercise gear however there are toilets on site. There are no lockers on site.
Q: Can i bring a pal with me?
A: Of course! The more merrier! As long as there is an understanding that this class is mostly aimed at LGBTQ+ people so if you’re an ally to this community, you are very welcome to join us!

Gilbert’s Adventures Through Books
Saturdays 11:15am to 12:00pm

Gilbert is the Guardian of the Books. He’s read EVERY book in the universe! He loves nothing more than embarking upon an epic adventure through his books! Who will he meet next? Will it be some dinosaurs? Or maybe he’ll fly on a broomstick? Why don’t you join him on his next adventure?
Storytelling is at the heart of Gilbert’s Adventures Through Books, where lighting, props, costumes and music bring stories to life through imagination and dance.
Led by PJ Hurst, who played the much-loved Petey the Polar Bear from our Snow Qween show, this is 45 minutes of imagination-sparking fun through books and dance.
There is a social cafe afterwards for wee ones and big ones to celebrate their adventure

Shaper/Caper is delighted to host a free weekly class designed especially for those living with Parkinson’s disease and their families and carers. These classes are suitable for those people with no dance experience and will develop participants’ confidence and creativity, whilst addressing Parkinson’s specific concerns such as; balance, flexibility, coordination, gait, and social isolation.
People living with Parkinson's in Dundee and Angus are invited to attend our in-person class, which takes place every Tuesday from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm at our new premises at 21-23 Mains Loan, Dundee DD4 7AB. The class is free to attend thanks to generous funding from The RS Macdonald Charitable Trust.
The Dance for Parkinson’s Scotland programme is a joint initiative originally established by Dance Base, Scotland's National Centre for Dance and Scottish Ballet, Scotland's National Dance Company, and delivered in partnership with Parkinson's UK.

FAQ’s
Q: What shall i be doing?
A: You will take part in a fun warm up to get the blood pumping before learning choreographic material and learning tools to make your own dances too. You will be guided through all this with our fab professional dancers. The sessions will be fun, friendly and a chance to make new pals!
Q: What should I wear?
A: Best to wear comfy clothes that you can exercise in. We usually dance barefoot or in a socks that have sock grip to them. Dresses and skirts are not appropriate for this class. There are no changing rooms on site so best to arrive in your exercise gear however there are toilets on site. There are no lockers on site.
Q: Can i bring a pal with me?
A: Of course! The more merrier! As long as there is an understanding that this class is mostly aimed at LGBTQ+ people so if you’re an ally to this community, you are very welcome to join us!

Gilbert is the Guardian of the Books. He’s read EVERY book in the universe! He loves nothing more than embarking upon an epic adventure through his books! Who will he meet next? Will it be some dinosaurs? Or maybe he’ll fly on a broomstick? Why don’t you join him on his next adventure?
Storytelling is at the heart of Gilbert’s Adventures Through Books, where lighting, props, costumes and music bring stories to life through imagination and dance.
Led by PJ Hurst, who played the much-loved Petey the Polar Bear from our Snow Qween show, this is 45 minutes of imagination-sparking fun through books and dance.
There is a social cafe afterwards for wee ones and big ones to celebrate their adventure

No experience is needed and it’s a great opportunity to make some new pals and enjoy a blether and a boogie together! This group is for LGBTQ+ people and allies for those aged 18 and over.

Q: What shall i be doing?
A: You will take part in a fun warm up to get the blood pumping before learning choreographic material and learning tools to make your own dances too. You will be guided through all this with our fab professional dancers. The sessions will be fun, friendly and a chance to make new pals!
Q: What should I wear?
A: Best to wear comfy clothes that you can exercise in. We usually dance barefoot or in a socks that have sock grip to them. Dresses and skirts are not appropriate for this class. There are no changing rooms on site so best to arrive in your exercise gear however there are toilets on site. There are no lockers on site.
Q: Can i bring a pal with me?
A: Of course! The more merrier! As long as there is an understanding that this class is mostly aimed at LGBTQ+ people so if you’re an ally to this community, you are very welcome to join us!

TERM 1 2026 STARTS SATURDAY 17TH JANUARY 2026. Gilbert is the Guardian of the Books. He’s read EVERY book in the universe! He loves nothing more than embarking upon an epic adventure through his books! Who will he meet next? Will be it some dinosaurs? Or maybe he’ll fly on a broomstick? Why don’t you join him on his next adventure?
Gilbert’s Adventures Through Books is much more than a dance class. It’s about building magical worlds together, you and your wee one, alongside Gilbert. Performance is at the centre of it so there is theatrical lighting, props, costumes and music….and of course, there’s dancing too! The classes is designed to spark your wee one’s curiosity, and a love for reading and dancing.
Led by PJ Hurst, who plays the much loved character Petey the Polar Bear from our Snow Qween show, this is 45 minutes of imagination sparking fun through books and dance.
There is a social cafe afterwards for wee one and big ones to celebrate their adventure
